On
Saturday, August 23, 2008, the massive North Medical Center
in Liverpool suffered serious water damages as the result
of a broken water line. The broken line, which ran off of
a heat pump, was on the third floor of the complex, flooding
down to the first floor. In all, six medical suites were
affected.
Stanley Steemer
was contacted immediately after the discovery early on that
Saturday evening. Within one hour of the emergency call
from the property owner, 12 certified technicians were at
the complex mitigating the damages. Working until after
1am that night, the technicians extracted all the standing
water, removing damaged ceiling tiles, took care of wet
contents and protected furnishings and equipment from further
damage.
Since a majority
of the walls were wet throughout the six suites, the cove
base was removed and holes were drilled at the base of the
walls to allow airflow into the walls to dry them efficiently.
All contents and furniture was placed on foam blocks, and
drying equipment was installed throughout.
In an effort
to minimize the interruption to the medical operations at
the facility for the upcoming week, the full crew of technicians
worked through the day on Sunday as well to get all the
suites cleaned up and drying efficiently. The affected suites
only had to cancel appointments for Monday, to allow enough
drying time to take place.
To allow for
patient appointments for Tuesday and Wednesday, technicians
removed the drying equipment in the morning prior to business
and reinstalled it after the close of business. The suites
were dry on Thursday and all carpets were cleaned the following
weekend, putting the complex back on track, without much
interruption to their operations.
