Discarded cigarette ashes in a waste basket ignited a devastating fire on the third floor of a Fayetteville, NY, home carving a 10 foot by 20 foot section of the siding off the house. The interior of the third floor was so hot the smoke line was all the way to the floor, causing damages to the second floor as well.
After reviewing the damages with the insurance company adjuster, the homeowner selected Stanley Steemer to handle the mitigation and cleanup as well as the rebuild. The adjuster contacted the Restoration Supervisor for Stanley Steemer and technicians were at the home within a half hour to
arrange for emergency services.
The massive openings in the siding and roof were boarded up that day and work began on gutting all of the debris from the third and second floors. All loose debris was removed that same day and by the third day, the entire third floor was gutted as well as damaged portions of the second floor. Within one week from the date of the fire the damaged portions of the roof were replaced and new siding was installed and painted.
The inside of the gutted areas were then sealed and work began on installing all new electrical and plumbing utilities. Upon completion of that, walls and ceilings were installed and painted, followed by windows, doors and new flooring
