A greenhouse and boutique country store in LaFayette, New York, suffered widespread smoke damage from a small electrical fire. The fire, which occurred in the greenhouse, burned hot for a short while but was extinguished after it caused irrigation hoses to burst and spray the fire.
While the fire occurred at the back of the greenhouse, as the smoke rose, ventilation fans pushed the smoke into the store covering thousands of items of merchandise in a fine layer of soot.
While at first look the damage seemed minor, every single item in the store, as well as the fixtures, walls, ceilings and floor needed to be cleaned to remove the odor and soot. Stanley Steemer was referred to the customer through their adjuster and our technicians began the cleaning the day after the fire.
In order to keep the business open during the restoration, our technicians focused on cleaning small sections of the store at a time to minimize intrusion to their customers. Over the course of two days, the entire store was cleaned and deodorized.
As for the greenhouse, it required repairs to a section of the framing and a new cover to be installed over the entire length. |
