  Fire damages Homer Residence

A severe basement fire caused extensive damages throughout a Homer residence at the end of April. The fire, which originated in the basement, burned hot enough to break water supply lines running through the ceiling. A combination of the water and lack of oxygen extinguished the fire before it spread to the upstairs and before the homeowners returned home from a day trip.

A good portion of the basement was badly burned and the entire home, upstairs and down, was coated in heavy soot. The homeowners contacted their insurance agent who put them in touch with Stanley Steemer to provide cleanup and restoration services.

Working with the insurance company adjuster, Stanley Steemer was directed to remove the majority of interior walls and flooring, in addition to cleaning and storing all contents throughout the home. The adjuster reasoned that the walls should be removed due to the damages and the fact that the entire home would need to have all new electrical work and some new plumbing work installed.

Due to the amount of contents and debris removal, six 30-yard rolloff dumpsters were required to haul off the refuse. All salvageable contents were cleaned and stored on premises in a large storage trailer to keep them safe and clean while the home is rebuilt.
