A large guesthouse on a New Hartford property suffered severe water damage when a water pipe froze and broke just before Christmas. As temperatures rose during the Holidays, the pipe thawed and water gushed from the between the second and third floor for over three days.
Ceilings were falling down and walls, floors and contents were saturated. The third floor was undamaged. After reviewing the property with the homeowner and the adjuster, the first step was to remove all the contents from the first floor, which needed to be gutted. The dry contents were cleaned and packed for storage on the third floor. Wet contents were set aside to be dried with the property.
After the contents were addressed, removal of the ceilings and walls in the main floor were removed as well as portions in the lower level. Drying equipment was setup throughout the property and a high efficiency heater was used to flash-dry the property using dry heat. Additionally, hardwood floor drying mats were used on the hardwood floors throughout the main level.
