A prominent local State Farm agent called Stanley Steemer in December 2008 to respond to a house fire that occurred in Middleport, NY. We are pleased to announce the family’s home is rebuilt and they have officially moved into their new home. Following the mitigation, repairs to the home began in January and, despite rough weather conditions, the Stanley Steemer crew was able to immediately replace the roof on this house preventing further interior damage. In addition to the new roof, the exterior of the home also received new siding, all new windows and doors, and a new deck was built in the rear of the house.
After the exterior was put back together, our technicians re-framed a majority of the home. During this 6.30
process, the insured and Stanley Steemer’s in-house project coordinator made some changes in the layout of the home.
What is now the master bedroom was their bedroom before but was open to the kitchen with a breakfast nook/window because it was once their old living room. This really gave them no privacy or closet space to feel like a bedroom. Our technicians closed up that wall and built a new closet space for them. At the same time, the stairs going into the basement were moved opening up more space in the basement as well as being more conveniently located off of the kitchen area instead. The old location of the stairs was then closed off and became the new entrance into the master bedroom.
Both of these changes really worked well for them, creating privacy in the bedroom, opening up more wall space for the kitchen and added a little extra storage for them by just adding that one extra closet which they didn’t have before. Other changes consisted of changing closet openings in existing bedrooms and expanding the size of the back hall, which led out onto the deck.
The homeowners had really great ideas and could easily visualize these changes before they were installed. All types of service crews were involved from our demo crew, roofer, contractors, electrician, flooring installers, estimators & designer, all worked with each other on rebuilding this home for the family. The homeowners were completely involved in this whole project, which really made it fun and smooth sailing from beginning to end. They really were on top of material selections, paint colors, flooring, lighting, fixtures, etc. The home has now been updated with all the wants and needs of the homeowners.
There was a great working relationship that was built throughout this time working together. The homeowners were accommodating and helpful through this whole restoration process. Everyone’s efforts and constant communication to the agent and the adjuster also kept this claim moving forward, creating an impressive claim response for the insured.
We would like to thank The Sligers, State Farm, Doug Thompson, and Mark Jabaut for choosing Stanley Steemer and giving us the opportunity in helping the insured during this emotional time which turned into a great homecoming.
