A
large two-family home in Syracuse was nearly destroyed due
to a leaky roof and a few strong storms in July. The home,
which was under renovations and unoccupied at the time,
was having a new roof installed due to leaks in the old
roof.
During
the process of replacing the roof, several strong storms
rolled through Syracuse shifting temporary tarps and allowing
substantial amounts of rain water to soak the property.
Upon entering the home after the storms, the owner said
the first floor looked like a rain forest because so much
water was falling from the ceiling.
The
home was so badly damaged that a majority of the plaster
walls were falling apart and covered with mold, hardwood
floors buckled, and ceilings had fallen throughout. The
insurance company adjuster contacted Stanley Steemer to
handle this large claim and crews got to work immediately.
First,
contents in the home were either cleaned and stored or disposed
of. Next the process of removing destroyed walls, ceilings
and floors was completed. Additionally, a large capacity
desiccant trailer dehumidifier was installed to dry the
entire home in about four days.
