A Rochester apartment complex sustained extensive smoke, fire, and water damage after a propane torch sparked a fire within the wall of one of the rental units. While heating a pipe, a wall cavity began to smolder, sparking a fire hours later. The building was in the process of being remodeled at the time of the fire, so none of the units were occupied.
Five apartments, the roof of the building and a storage area were affected. Stanley Steemer was called in to handle the mitigation before the fire department had even left the site. Upon being granted access to the building, a crew began to extract moisture and removed and inventoried any contents that could not be salvaged.
Drying equipment was set up and the structure was cleaned, dry and ready for reconstruction within six days.
