The
owners were away on vacation and the person checking on the home
discovered the damages and contacted the contractor who recently
did renovations to the home. The contractor immediately recommended
Stanley Steemer and within one hour of receiving the emergency
call, a team of five technicians were on the scene.
The water
ran from the attic, saturating two floors and the basement. Over
3,000-square-feet of hardwoods were saturated and began cupping.
The plaster ceilings had begun to give in spots and the plaster
walls were soaked. The technicians immediately began water extraction
and cleanup upon arrival. Removing debris and extracting the water
from the hardwoods was the first action.
To save the
hardwoods, Vac-It Panels (hardwood floor rescue panels) were installed
throughout to extract the bound water in the flooring and subflooring
to dry the floors to their pre-damage moisture levels. These panels
effectively dried the floors in three days and reversed all of
the cupping that had occurred.
For the rest
of the structure, our technicians installed six large low grain
dehumidifiers, one portable desiccant dehumidifier, two Injectidry
wall drying systems and 19 airmovers to aid in the evaporation
and dehumidification.
The entire structure was dried in five days and ready for renovations
to repair the ceilings and wall damage.
