A
family from Warners attempted to escape the hardships of
winter this year by heading South for several months in
January. Unfortunately winter’s wrath was waiting
for them in their home. Due to a failure in their hot water
baseboard heating system, the heating pipes froze and split
in multiple locations throughout the home.
Water
ran throughout the home for an undetermined amount of time
before it was discovered, and it was estimated that it had
been doing so for longer than two weeks. The majority of
the main level of the ranch home was affected and the basement
was completely inundated with water. Carpeting had delaminated
throughout the home and walls and subflooring were saturated.
The basement sustained heavy damage to a finished room and
mold had begun to grow throughout.
The homeowner
contacted their agent upon discovering the damages. The
staff at the office guided them on what they needed to do
to manage the claim and mitigate the damages. They put the
homeowner in touch with Stanley Steemer, who immediately
went to the home to assess the damages and put together
a plan to dispose of damaged contents and building materials
and dry the home and remove any mold growth.
Several 30-yard
rolloff dumpsters were required to remove all wet and damaged
carpeting, sheetrock, and contents. The proper drying equipment
was installed throughout the home and closely monitored
throughout the process. The basement was striped down and
certified mold remediation techniques were used.
Undamaged and
salvageable contents were cleaned and stored in a temporary
storage trailer which was placed in the driveway of the
home.
Stanley Steemer’s
technicians were able to effectively mitigate the entire
claim in under a week and the large loss adjuster assigned
to the claim praised the work noting that it was done perfectly,
keeping the costs down and speeding the recovery.
