Water
tank explosion floods three stories of Oswego apartment building.
Stanley Steemer Restoration dries entire structure in four days.
Oswego, NY,
December 2005 — In an apartment complex in Oswego, a hot
water tank on the third story in an unoccupied unit broke in early
morning gushing water throughout the complex. Stanley Steemer
Restoration received an emergency call at 6:30 am and had three
response trucks and five IICRC certified technicians on the site
before 9:00 am, despite heavy lake effect snow conditions.
When the crew
arrived, they found the ceilings on the first and second floors
were collapsing. They immediately began work on the third floor
with water extraction and carpet removal. Two large Low-Grain
Dehumidifiers and nine big barrel air movers were installed on
that floor.
On the second
floor, the staff removed the collapsing ceiling and insulation,
then extracted water from and removed the carpets. Again, two
large Low-Grain Dehumidifiers and nine big barrel air movers were
installed on that floor. The same procedure was repeated on the
first floor.
The entire
structure was dried in four days and our technicians were able
to save all of the walls and carpeting on all three floors. The
carpeting was reinstalled and the ceiling repair was started to
allow the units to be reoccupied.
