A downtown Syracuse financial building suffered extensive flooding damage after a hydrant line in the sixth-floor stairwell broke. Heat failed in the stairwell overnight freezing the valve at the top of the line, forcing it to break. The water flowed down the stairwell draining onto the ground floor, affecting three vacant open office areas, a hallway and storage area.
Stanley Steemer was called immediately in the morning to extract the water, dry the premises and prevent further damage. After extracting the carpets, baseboards were removed on the affected wet walls and drying equipment was placed forcing dry air in the wall cavities. Dehumidifiers were also installed throughout the six flights of stairs to dry the wet ceilings and walls.
After four days of drying the job was complete, carpets were cleaned and the baseboards were ready to be reinstalled. |
